Looking back at a year rich in continuing education and complementary via ferrata courses.
The year 2025 was marked by unprecedented dynamism in the field of continuing education, with no less than four training sessions organized by ASPE, bringing together over 35 participants.
It has now been seven summers since the introduction of the ordinance on high-risk activities allowed certified climbing instructors to accompany and train clients on via ferrata routes. To keep up with the latest technical developments, ASPE deemed it necessary to offer suitable training. Thus, at the beginning of September, an advanced training module was organized on the via ferrata of Charmey, in the Fribourg Pre-Alps. Several members of our association participated to maintain a high standard of quality in the supervision of these challenging and dizzying routes.
In October, the traditional annual training session, free for our members, took place in the canton of Valais, on the cliffs of Arbaz. This session focused on first aid and brought together a team of experts coordinated by our member François Mathey, a certified paramedic (ES), specialized rescuer (OCVS/Air Glaciers), and mountain guide.
The training was delivered by Dr. Anne Sarah Lavanchy, FMH-certified physician, holder of a diploma in emergency medicine, and collaborator for GRIMM/Air Glaciers.
In November, a two-day training session focused on wall rescue was organized at the Altium training center in Sion. This module allowed participants to learn, practice, and deepen their rescue techniques on walls in various scenarios. The training, overseen by Sébastien Guéra, a member of our committee, was led by Frédéric Salamin, an ITRA & IRATA 3 instructor and mountain guide.
The training year concluded on December 12 with a continuing education session specifically dedicated to ASSE trainers, ensuring that the annual advanced content was incorporated into indoor courses.
ASPE wishes to extend its gratitude to the trainers for their high level of expertise, to the Swiss Petzl agency, and to Télécharmey SA and Moléson cable cars for their valuable support during the modules dedicated to via ferrata.
